I love fashion and I love celebrities (I’m usually very updated with the all the celeb news) and I thought why not mix the two up. Also with 2016 making its way out, it would be a perfect timing to talk about the best dressed celebs in 2016. This is all about those dresses and gowns that our gorgeous Hollywood celebs wore to Red carpet events like the Oscars, Grammy’s, Golden Globe, Emmy’s and the like. I have always been mesmerized by these larger than life dresses these Goddesses wear on such events. These celebs are my inspiration and I can’t help but idolize these well dressed divas.
In 2016 too, there were few celebrities who hit it out of the park in the style department. In fact, most of them have upped their game and raised the bar rather high. This list is totally personal and may or may not be what the popular verdict or media are saying. Fashion is absolutely subjective but I have tried to be completely unbiased and am basing it only on the dresses and how these celebs have pulled it off.
So here’s the list in no specific order:
- Blake Lively
We start our list with this diva who has never disappointed in her style game so it would be no surprise that she is included for not one but two looks. In the first look, from the MET Gala 2016, she looks elegant in Burberry blush pink pleated silk organza and chiffon gown with a cape (she’s our superhero :)) with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Her second look is from the Cannes Film Festival where she donned light blue ruffled Vivienne Westwood ball gown.
- Selena Gomez
This was Selena Gomez’s return to AMAs and she did not disappoint. She wore a scarlet red sleeveless ball gown by Prada and look absolutely stunning.
Zendaya hit the red carpet at Golden Globes 2016 in this red tiered Marchesa gown with shoes by Ruthie Davis.
- Jennifer Lopez
J Lo is always surprising us with her trends and we are always following her style. At Golden Globes 2016, she rocked the yellow thigh high Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and of course plenty of swag.
- Jennifer Garner
She graced the Academy Awards red carpet in a black Atelier Versace dress with an asymmetrical neckline and a draped skirt and minimalist Rene Caovilla sandals. It’s black, it’s elegant – what’s not to love!
- Brie Larson
This Oscar winner pretty graced the MET gala 2016 in sequin tiered Proenza Schoulder dress. Her dress was within the theme of the event -Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” which explores the intersection of haute couture and machine-made fashion.
- Naomi Watts
Again, I can’t help but feature two of her looks this year. At the Met gala, she wore a sequined Burberry dress with floral embroidery and a black belt around her waist. And she walked the Oscars red carpet in purple and blue strapless sequined Armani Prive gown.
- Abigail Spencer
This TV actress looked ravishing in strapless scarlet red Alexia Maria ball gown with black lace up heels with minimal jewelry.
- Araya Hargate
This British Thai actress stepped on the Cannes Film Festival 2016 red carpet in pink ruffled gown in Ralph and Russo.
- Cate Blanchet
Another celeb to always look forward to in the red carpet events as she always slays with her fashion game. She rocked the Oscars red carpet in her Armani Prive seafoam gown.
Here’s another celebrity who had to be featured for two looks. First, she is spotted looking smokin’ iwearing a black and metallic sequined Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture number with thigh high slit that left one whole leg completely exposed. In the second look, she is seen showing off her baby bump in mostly black Stephane Rolland gown that featured a fitted, long-sleeve turtleneck top with a billowing asymmetrical two-tone skirt at the AMAs.
- Jenna Dewan Tatum
At the Golden Globes in 2016, this actress sparkled in a midnight blue ball gown golden globe Zuhair Murad Couture. Minimal jewels and so chic !
- Maggie Lawson
At the People’s Choice this actress rocked a gorgeous white dress that had a lace top and thigh-high slit skirt.
- Maria Sharapova
This tennis star made her appearance at the MET gala in a red slip satin dress in a Juan Carlos Obando dress and Gianvito Rossi shoes.
- Michelle Dockery
This TV actress donned a white tiered gown by Oscar de la Renta at Emmy’s with a high-low hem that featured black piping, paired with minimalist black heels by Stuart Weitzman.
- Olivia Wildes
This TV actress made her Oscars red carpet debut in a white Valentino Haute Couture ivory pleated gown with plunging neckline, showing plenty of cleavage.
These were my pick of the best dressed female celebs of 2016. Who made it to your list and what do you look forward to in terms of style in 2017?
Here’s wishing you a very stylish 2017 🙂
